Vocabulum news — page 5

Vocabulum is a free app for learning Greek in your browser or Telegram. This page lists notable updates to the app, from new sections to new topics and exercises, with the date each one arrived.

July 2026

  1. An owl places a location pin on an educational relief map.

GeoQuiz: places on the map of Cyprus

The Cyprus section now has GeoQuiz. A point is marked on the map of the island, and you choose which town, landmark or other place it is. It makes the geography in the exam syllabus easier to remember.

  2. An owl introduces Cypriot culture beside an amphora and olive branch.

    Cyprus culture exam prep

A new section helps you prepare for the Cyprus culture exam. Its questions cover the island’s history, geography, politics and institutions, culture, religion and traditions.

Every fact is written in Greek, English and Russian, and the questions you get wrong come back for review.

  3. An owl welcomes a new learner beside headphones, a bell and an hourglass.

A short introduction for new users

New users now get a short introduction to the app. It lets you listen to the audio voices and pick one, set the session length and turn on reminders.

You can replay the introduction from the settings.

  4. An owl shows a study activity calendar with completed days.

    Stats screen

A new stats screen brings together your streak, your progress with words and an activity calendar that highlights the days you studied, so you can see at a glance how regular your practice is.

June 2026

  1. An owl reveals a word-of-the-day card with the Greek word for house.

Word of the day and Telegram stories

The bot can send you a word of the day, picked to match your vocabulary. The message includes a picture, an example and its translation.

You can now share a session result to your Telegram story with a card made for it.

  2. An owl with a closed book points ahead toward a new day.

Future tense, να and the imperative

May and June brought four new grammar topics: the future tense, να with a verb, the nominative case and the imperative.

The rules section has a chapter on choosing the right imperative form.

  3. An owl practises speaking about home with a Greek phrase card.

Situation cards for the A2 exam

In May the phrasebook got its first card, about how your day went. In June it was joined by a trip story, an informal and a formal letter, choosing between options and giving your opinion, and a description of your home and neighborhood.

These are typical speaking and writing tasks of the A2 exam. The cards have Greek phrases with Russian translations, and the words in each phrase link to dictionary entries with audio.

  4. An owl gently protects a study streak flame inside an ice dome.

Streak freeze and supporting the project

If you miss a day, a streak freeze can now keep your streak going. Freezes are bought with Telegram Stars, and every learning section stays free.

You can also support the project with a donation.

  5. An owl selects a difficult item from a stack of study books.

Sessions of up to 50 exercises and hard-word practice

You can now set the session length in the settings: 10, 20, 30 or 50 exercises.

There is also a separate practice for hard words, the ones you get wrong most often.
