Phrasebook: phrases for real situations
We are expanding the phrasebook with more situations, useful phrases and exercises, as well as examples for speaking and writing.
Each situation is a card with Greek phrases split into sections, and the words in the phrases lead to their dictionary entries with audio and examples.
In the cards the phrases are translated into Russian for now; the titles and sections are in English. The situations are:
- How to say how your day went Time markers, daily actions, places, emotions, and linking words for a short story.
- Shopping trip Actions, places inside a shop, groceries, quantity, payment, checkout, and common problems.
- Trip story Openings, goals, travel companions, route details, impressions, problems, and linking words for a trip story.
- Talking about yourself and your family Personal details, family, work, hobbies, A2 interview questions, and a structured composition template.
- Describing a photograph A clear A2 response plan: setting, people, appearance, actions, emotions, assumptions, examiner questions, and composition structure.
- Opinion, choice, and comparison Opinion phrases, reasons, comparisons, agreement, A2 speaking prompts, and a short composition builder.
- Informal letter to a friend Greetings, news, thanks, invitations, replies, questions, closings, and complete A2 letter templates.
- Formal letter and information request Formal greetings, polite questions, dates, prices, registration, documents, and complete A2 request templates.
- Home and neighborhood Housing, rooms, furniture, neighborhood services, advantages, problems, renting, and A2 speaking and writing templates.
- Hobbies and free time Activities, frequency, people, places, reasons, invitations, problems, A2 examiner questions, and a composition builder.
- Asking and giving directions Polite questions, directions, landmarks, public transport, route problems, A2 examiner questions, and a message builder.
- Doctor and pharmacy Symptoms, appointment phrases, doctor questions, recommendations, pharmacy phrases, dosage, and an A2 story builder.
Situation cards for the A2 exam
The situations follow typical A2 tasks: talking about yourself, describing a photo, telling a short story about your day or a trip, writing an informal letter to a friend and a formal request for information. Many cards include questions an examiner may ask and a complete example you can adapt.
Vocabulum is not connected with the exam organizers and cannot guarantee a result.
Phrase and dialogue drills
Phrases also come up in word practice: you put a phrase together from words, complete a dialogue or a situation, restore the word order, fill the gaps or build a phrase from a hint in your language.

Questions about phrases and the A2 exam
Will the phrasebook help with the A2 Greek exam?
It covers typical A2 speaking and writing tasks with useful phrases, possible examiner questions and examples. The cards currently have Russian translations. Vocabulum is not affiliated with exam organizers and cannot guarantee a result.
Are the phrases translated into English?
Phrases in the dictionary and in the drills have English translations. In the situation cards the phrases are translated into Russian for now.
Is the phrasebook useful for life in Greece or Cyprus?
Yes. Shopping, the doctor and the pharmacy, housing and asking for directions are everyday situations.
