Learn words in Vocabulum. Speak and write with them in ChatGPT

In the app you memorise words and review them on schedule. Knowing a word is one thing; using it freely is another. Connect Vocabulum to ChatGPT, and it will build practice from your words: the ones you are learning, especially the difficult ones and those due for review.

What you can do

No new learning material appears. ChatGPT takes a small selection of your words, creates the tasks itself and checks your answers. The app stays the place where you learn and review.

  • Translation both ways ChatGPT gives a short sentence with one of your words, you translate it. Any correct version counts, not just one model answer.
  • Your own sentences You get two or three words and build a sentence with them. ChatGPT checks cases, tenses and meaning and suggests a more natural way to say it.
  • Dialogue A conversation in a familiar setting: the municipality, a landlord, a doctor, a shop or one of the A2 exam topics. Mistakes are reviewed every few turns so the conversation keeps going.
  • Writing check A letter to a friend, a complaint, a photo description or a short story. ChatGPT corrects mistakes, explains them and shows which of your words you used well.
  • Rephrasing One idea three ways: simple, conversational and more formal — say, for talking to an employer.
  • Similar words The difference between τελειώνω and ολοκληρώνω, πάλι and ξανά, with examples and a short check.
  • Add words to study Name the words you want to learn, and ChatGPT finds them in the Vocabulum dictionary and adds them to My words. Words that are not in the dictionary are not added, and it tells you so.

ChatGPT explains things the way the app does. For example, if you choose a wrong form, it shows a small table with the correct form and yours marked.

What it looks like in the chat

ChatGPT gives one task at a time, waits for your answer and reviews it at once. A few examples.

Translation

  1. ChatGPT

Translate into Greek: “Tomorrow I will write a letter to a friend.”

  2. You

Αύριο θα γράφω ένα γράμμα στον φίλο μου.

  3. ChatGPT

Almost. This is one completed action, so after θα you need the future form without θα — γράψω. “Θα γράφω” means “I will be writing”: for a long time or regularly.

    θα γράφωI will be writingyours
    θα γράψωI will write correct

Correct: Αύριο θα γράψω ένα γράμμα στον φίλο μου.

A dialogue at the doctor’s

  1. ChatGPT

    Καλημέρα! Τι σας συμβαίνει;

  2. You

Καλημέρα. Με πονάει το κεφάλι και έχω πυρετός από χθες.

  3. ChatGPT

    Έχετε πάρει κάποιο φάρμακο;

  4. You

    Όχι ακόμα.

  5. ChatGPT

A quick review: after έχω you need the accusative — ο πυρετός → τον πυρετό, so “έχω πυρετό”. The rest is right. Let’s go on: Θα σας γράψω ένα φάρμακο για τον πυρετό.

Adding words

  1. You

I want to learn these words: holiday, beach, sunbathe.

  2. ChatGPT

Added to My words: οι διακοπές, η παραλία. “Sunbathe” (κάνω ηλιοθεραπεία) is not in the Vocabulum dictionary, so I didn’t add it. The new words will appear in the app’s training.

How to connect

  1. In ChatGPT, open the apps section and add Vocabulum manually at https://www.vocabulum.app/mcp.
  2. ChatGPT opens a Vocabulum page. Press “Continue with Telegram” and confirm the sign-in in Telegram.
  3. You return to ChatGPT. Write, for example: “Practise my difficult words” or “Let’s do a dialogue at the doctor’s”.

You need a Vocabulum account with at least a few studied words. Whether you can connect apps depends on your ChatGPT plan.

What ChatGPT receives

  • Only words you have already studied: spelling, translation, part of speech, level, one example and whether the word is difficult or due for review.
  • In small portions: up to 20 words at a time and no more than 60 different words a day.
  • Not your name, Telegram ID, answer history or settings.

ChatGPT does not change your progress or review schedule. At your request it can add words from the Vocabulum dictionary to My words — and only those.

How to disconnect

Open the connected apps page, sign in with Telegram and press “Revoke”. ChatGPT can then no longer read your words. Whatever was already shown stays in your ChatGPT chat history.
