Vocabulum news — page 2

Vocabulum is a free app for learning Greek in your browser or Telegram. This page lists notable updates to the app, from new sections to new topics and exercises, with the date each one arrived.

October 2026

  1. Blue owl practising a Greek conversation in chat.

Vocabulum in ChatGPT: practice with your own words

Connect Vocabulum to ChatGPT to practice translation, your own sentences, dialogues, writing, rephrasing and similar words using vocabulary you are learning. ChatGPT creates the tasks and checks your answers. Since the October 23 update, it can also explain Vocabulum grammar rules: up to three new chapters a day and ten over 30 days.

Add Vocabulum in ChatGPT at https://www.vocabulum.app/mcp and confirm sign-in through Telegram. At your request, it can add words from the existing dictionary to My words; it cannot create new dictionary entries. For practice, it receives no more than 60 different studied words a day. Answers in the chat do not change your review progress. You can disconnect at any time.

  2. Blue owl ringing a bell to invite a learning session.

New illustrations for reminders and weekly summaries

Vocabulum messages in Telegram have new illustrations for study reminders, streak invitations, notifications about ready materials and weekly summaries. Scenes and messages rotate to bring more variety to your reminders.

Weekly summaries still show your results, and notifications about ready materials take you to them in the app. Your reminder schedule and preferences stay the same. You can manage them in Vocabulum settings.

  3. Blue owl showing a Greek verb example with a book.

A separate practice mode for Greek verbs

Open Practice and choose Verbs to work on telling similar verbs apart. Choose a verb for a situation, recognize its meaning by ear or recall it in Greek without answer options.

After answering, see the correct word and an explanation of the difference. Results are shown separately by task format, and you can revisit difficult words. Practice focuses on using verbs in short, everyday situations.

  4. Blue owl with a magnifying glass finding a familiar word in a catalogue.

Recent searches and words in dictionary search

Dictionary search now remembers recent successful searches and words you opened. Clear the search field to revisit them with one tap, with a translation shown beside each word. This helps when you are reading a text or doing homework and need to look up the same vocabulary again.

History stays on your device, and you can clear it. Search also checks translations of individual word meanings. Filters are collapsed by default; active filters remain visible and can be reset.

  5. Blue owl choosing a voice in a recording studio.

    Seven voices for vocabulary audio

Two voices from personal podcasts, Άννα and Αλέξης, have joined the five vocabulary voices. Settings now offers a choice of seven voices for words and examples in vocabulary practice. Άννα is the default choice.

You can switch voices at any time while keeping your words and progress. All recordings are created using speech synthesis.

  6. Blue owl showing a Greek greeting in a sunny cafe.

Situations, dialogues and notes for 1,146 expressions

We expanded 930 phrases and 216 sentence patterns with a situation, a short translated dialogue and explanations of the expression's meaningful parts. These notes help you understand when and how to use a phrase, alongside its translation.

Notes appear when you first meet an expression, on the back of a flashcard and after answering in vocabulary practice. They stay hidden before your answer so you can try to recall the phrase yourself. Notes are available in English and Russian.

  7. Blue owl arranging learning books by level.

Level collections: word order and compact stage lists

Stages in level collections now show compact word rows with translations and audio, alongside progress and marks for words you have added. Filter for words you have not learned and add them individually or as a whole stage.

In A1, A2, B1 and Transition to A2, choose between learning order and frequency order. Learning order is the default. Switching order changes which words belong to each stage while preserving the progress of words you are already studying.

  8. Blue owl opening a box of new Greek words.

966 Greek words and 211 expressions added

We added 1,177 words and expressions: 966 words, 206 phrases and 5 sentence patterns. We also expanded the meanings and examples for 388 existing words and expressions. The dictionary now contains 6,409 words and expressions.

Each new word or expression includes English and Russian translations and a usage example. We prepared 5,885 audio recordings across five voices. Find what you need through search and add it to My words for review.

  9. Blue owl listening to a personal podcast on a balcony.

Personal podcasts for words and Cyprus culture

The Podcasts section lets you create an episode from your vocabulary or Cyprus facts you have studied. Two hosts discuss the material, using Greek examples and review questions. Check the selected words or facts before you confirm; the recording, transcript and earlier episodes remain available to revisit.

Creation starts after confirmation and requires enough study material. You can create one episode of each type every seven days. Audio is prepared in a queue, so the recording arrives later.

  10. Blue owl examining a Greek word about Cyprus with a magnifying glass.

Look up words inside Cyprus questions

While studying Cyprus culture, you can open a Greek word from a question or answer option to see its translation and hear it pronounced. Add a suitable dictionary card to My words without leaving the question.

This aid is available in learning questions shown in Greek. Word hints are disabled in the practice exam.
