Vocabulum is a Telegram app for learning Greek vocabulary, with 5,100+ dictionary entries, translations, audio and examples. Your review schedule uses your answers: familiar words appear less often, difficult ones more often.

## Inside the app

Find the picture, translation, audio and examples in one word card. You can also check word forms and your answer history.

Match a Greek word and a picture. Translation, listening and spelling exercises alternate, so you recall each word in different ways.

## What is in the dictionary

The dictionary keeps growing. We will add new words, phrases, examples and topic collections, and improve the review exercises.

The dictionary holds 5,100+ entries: 4,100+ words, 724 phrases and 346 form patterns such as ο → τον or εγώ → εμένα. Every entry has a translation into English and Russian, an example sentence, audio and a picture.

Choose collections by level or topic:

- Level A1, Level A2 and Level B1. The levels are cumulative: the A2 collection also includes all of A1.
- Base, with the most useful words to get started.
- Core Verbs, Frequent Verbs, Verb + Noun and Question Words.
- Everyday, Travel, and Documents & Services, for the Greek you need day to day.
- Path to A2, Base Expansion, Complex Situations and Full Lexicon, for the next steps.

Large collections are split into stages of about 100 words.

## How the words were selected

The A1–B1 collections cover vocabulary for daily life and Greek exam preparation, including shopping, health and public services. The full dictionary also includes words at higher levels.

The pictures were generated with artificial intelligence, and the app labels them as such. The audio is synthesized speech, with 5 voices to choose from, including male and female voices.

## 11 types of exercises

Sessions combine exercises on translation, listening, spelling and using words in context:

- Self-graded flashcards: recall the translation, reveal it and rate yourself.
- Remember / Don’t remember: a quick self-check.
- Pick the translation, from Greek and into Greek.
- By ear: recognize a word or a phrase from the recording.
- By picture: choose the word that matches the image.
- Matching pairs.
- Build the word from letters, or a phrase from words.
- Gaps in a word: restore the missing letters.
- Articles: choose ο, η or το.
- Phrases: put a phrase together, complete a dialogue, restore the word order.
- Gap in a sentence: choose the word that fits.

Types you do not like can be switched off in the settings. Self-graded flashcards are a separate mode with their own schedule: while it is on, the other types stay off.

## How spaced repetition works

After an answer, the app updates the next review date. A successful review increases the interval, while a mistake shortens it. Difficult words therefore appear more often than familiar ones.

You can also review words before they are due. A correct answer in an early review counts partly, so it does not increase the interval as much as a review completed on schedule.

## Ways to practice

A session is 10, 20, 30 or 50 exercises, and you set the length in the settings. You also choose what goes into it:

- new words from the collections you have added;
- new words mixed with words due for review;
- review only, with no new words;
- the words you got wrong;
- listening only, where every exercise is by ear.

## The word card

Tap a word to open its card: example sentences, related words, how well you know the word and the history of your answers.

## My words and search

My words lists the words you are learning, those you have learned and your favorites. Search by Greek spelling or translation, add individual words instead of a whole collection, or start a session with words you often get wrong.
