Vocabulum is a free Telegram app for learning Modern Greek, built by an independent developer. It focuses on vocabulary practice with spaced repetition and also offers grammar, listening and exam preparation materials.

## Why Vocabulum exists

Work on the app continues: we expand the dictionary and learning sections, add exercises, fix mistakes and improve the interface.

Words that seemed familiar during a lesson can be hard to recall later. Vocabulum helps you return to them regularly: the review schedule uses your answers, and you can choose the session length in the settings.

Alongside vocabulary, you can practice grammar with explanations, listen to short texts, learn the alphabet and use the A2 phrasebook. The Cyprus culture exam has a separate track with practice questions and review sessions.

## Who makes Vocabulum

One independent developer builds and maintains Vocabulum. All learning sections are free, with no ads or paid plans. You can choose to support the project with a donation or buy a streak freeze using Telegram Stars.

Vocabulum is not affiliated with Telegram, the Ministry of Education of Cyprus or the Centre for the Greek Language.

## How the materials are chosen and checked

Words and phrases are grouped into A1, A2 and B1 collections and everyday topics such as shopping, travel, health and public services. These support language practice and exam preparation; the full dictionary also includes more advanced vocabulary. Every entry has English and Russian translations, an example, audio and a picture.

Facts for the Cyprus exam track are checked against official sources before they go into the app, and the questions follow the topics of the official syllabus.

The pictures were generated with artificial intelligence, and the audio is synthesized speech. We review them, but mistakes are possible.
